1. What is a C-type visa?

A C-type visa is a short-stay visa that allows entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

  • Purposes: tourism, family visits, business meetings, short-term training, or cultural events.
  • It does not permit employment or long-term residence.

2. What is a D-type visa?

A D-type visa is a long-stay visa issued for stays exceeding 90 days.

  • Purposes: work, study, family reunification, business residence, or other long-term stay categories.
  • Holders of a D visa must also apply for a temporary residence permit after entering Bosnia and Herzegovina.

3. How do I apply for a Tourist Visa (C-type)?

  • Prepare: a valid passport, visa application form, recent photographs, travel insurance, confirmed flight & hotel bookings, proof of funds, and invitation letter (if applicable).
  • Book an appointment by email (info@bihembassy-gov.com).
  • Submit your application in person at the Embassy in New Delhi.

4. How do I apply for a Work Visa (D-type)?

  • An employer in Bosnia and Herzegovina must first obtain a work permit for you.
  • Submit your visa application with the work permit, employment contract, passport, photographs, and supporting documents.
  • Apply at the Embassy in New Delhi by prior appointment.

5. How do I apply for a Student Visa (D-type)?

  • Obtain an admission/acceptance letter from a recognized university in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • Prepare documents: proof of accommodation, financial means, medical insurance, and valid passport.
  • Apply at the Embassy in New Delhi after scheduling an appointment.

6. How can I book an appointment for C-type or D-type visa submission?

  • All applicants must take prior appointment by sending an email to info@bihembassy-gov.com.
  • In your email, mention: full name, passport number, type of visa (C or D), and purpose of travel.
  • You will receive a confirmation with date and time for submission.

7. How long does it take to process my visa?

  • C-type visa: average processing time is 10–15 working days.
  • D-type visa: average processing time is 4–6 weeks, depending on verification and purpose.
    (Processing times may vary depending on case complexity.)

8. Can I track my visa status online?

Yes. After submission, applicants receive a reference number. You can track your visa status online through the official visa tracking portal of the Embassy.


9. Do I need to appear in person at the Embassy?

No, not mandatory for most categories. Applicants may not be physically present at the Embassy for submission and collection of passports. Applicants may authorize someone for the same.
